DAY 17. LAS VEGAS, NM TO TUCUMCARI, NM

Today was a long day.  We rode out of our hotel took a left on Rte 104E and rode 108 miles to Tucumcari.  There were no services for 75.6 miles.  At 27 miles into the ride we reached the 1,000 mile mark of the tour.  Only 2,400 miles to go!  The 1,000 mile mark was at SAG where "No Country For Old Men" was filmed.

We climbed over 4,200 feet today but actually dropped almost 2,000 feet in elevation.  We climbed some of the steepest grades of the tour, thankfully they were short in length.

Today's ride took 7 hours.  That's a long time in the saddle and tomorrow is another long ride of 95 miles.

Michelle has her doctor's appointment in the morning.  I'm hoping for good news and a quick return to the tour.
